More From The Garden….

Just thought I would give a little update on the garden.

Well, all the vegetables are going well, especially the tomatoes, which have lots of bloom. Hopefully this means a very good year!

We had to put chicken wire up in front of them to give a bit of protection from our resident fox (which we love having in the garden), as he was digging into the compost underneath and not the actual plants themselves. πŸ™‚ Actually the birds also find the chicken wire really convenient to perch on! πŸ˜€

The runner beans are shooting all the way up to the tops of the polls and the bees have been really busy as you can see by all the bloom on them. πŸ™‚

Our bird feeders are the other side of the runner beans and the birds perch on the tops of the polls as lookout posts before they go onto them. πŸ™‚

The sunflowers which I have mentioned before are growing so fast, especially the Russian Giants which reach a height of about 10-12 feet or 3 metres.

The Russian Giant sunflowers have 7 feet canes behind them attached to the fence so that they can grow nice and straight; we also string the stems to them in case of strong winds as well. πŸ™‚

Our rose-bush is in full bloom; they look fantastic this year and smell lovely! The birds love these bushes as they tend to have lots of bugs in them, especially the blue tits. πŸ™‚

I had a Buddleia which a friend gave me as a small plant and it is growing fast, should be really nice when fully grown and a great attraction! IMG_1863

Finally I have a new bird nesting in our oldest box….a wren with maybe 2-3 chicks which haven’t yet fledged. πŸ˜€

I am so lucky to have such a diverse habitat and to be able to grow my own vegetables here. I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer and have fun in the garden or out for a walk in the countryside. πŸ˜€
