Spring

Spring is here at last and over the last couple of weeks here in the UK we have had some wonderful weather (well 2 weeks ago that is, I’m a bit late in posting ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

The garden has been in bloom with the first flowers coming through (although we do have winter growing flowers), the leaves on our big trees making a welcome appearance and getting seeds planted in the greenhouse for the veggie plot. ๐Ÿ™‚

In the greenhouse we have lettuce, tomatoes, runner beans and cucumber plants.

If you look at the nearest tray the lettuce making an appearance, the far trays are tomatoes but they take a bit longer to show.

Garden Update…

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted, but summer is here, the garden is in full swing now with vegetables growing, juvenile and adult birds coming and going on our feeders, with summer flowers in full bloom. ๐Ÿ™‚

To start off here’s a picture of a special visitor to the garden.

Blooming in Spring

The garden is in full spring colour at the moment and I thought I would post a few photographs of it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I took this yesterday, it’s a picture of one side of our small front garden. The tulips have all come out in spectacular reds and whites, we have hyacinths of various colours and the daffodils are still just hanging on too! ๐Ÿ™‚

September Garden Update

I’ve had a really busy month, but I’ve still managed to squeeze in doing quite a bit in the garden as well as cleaning out my nest boxes too!

I recently moved some of my Michaelmas daisies to the front garden in two batches and placed them by the small garden wall where they will get lots of sun and hopefully attract the bee’s, butterflies and all the other pollinators. You can see them here on the left of the picture (they needed some water as it has been very dry here).

As you can see I also have some Rudbeckia “Aries” (the yellow flowers in the middle of the photograph), like the Michaelmas daisies they flower well into October and provide a real splash of colour and are also great for the pollinators as well.

Garden Update

It’s late summer and the garden is still looking great. Sorry I didn’t post last week I injured my back somehow. :S

My Buddleia which was given to me by a good friend as a little sapling in 2013 is in full bloom and attracting so many butterflies, bees and other insects. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nesting Blue tits and Bluebells in the Garden

I’ve been away for far to long – sorry! I hurt my ankle and getting about was a real pain in the butt. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I have just started to go through some of the photographs I have taken over the last couple of days so I thought a blog was definitely in order. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our Blue tits are now entrenched in the box on our conservatory and nesting began (just before I hurt my ankle). They used the fiesta-nesta from CJ Wildlife so much it was quite comical at times, especially some of the positions they would get into. ๐Ÿ˜€ Continue reading

Spring has sprung…

The last couple of days has been sunshine and warm temperatures so I have been in the garden getting things ready for planting out and taking lots of pictures (sorry bit of a photo blog) :D.

This is a beautiful tulip, it adds lovely colour to the raised bed above the vegetable plot and the bees really love them. You may be able to just see the bluebell on the right that’s blurry – I want to get a nice photograph of them when they’re in full bloom! ๐Ÿ˜€ Continue reading

A Good Start to Spring

It’s been a bit of a strange start to spring but a good one. ๐Ÿ™‚

The garden is looking great and seeds have been sown into their pots and trays in the greenhouse; onion sets have been put into the vegetable plot already along with shallots, we have also had lots of different varieties of birds in the garden too (more of the birds in another blog to come). ๐Ÿ˜€

In the foreground trays are lettuce and tomatoes and in the pots, largest first is Button Snakewort then begonia which is going to be ready for next year hopefully and for the new bed which I have made. ๐Ÿ˜€

A Walk in the Park

Earlier on this week I took a stroll around a park I hadn’t been to since October 2013 with a close friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

I got up really early with my camera so I could get some photographs.

This is as you come through the gate, the sun had not quite risen past the horizon so the mist was still floating about rather eerily! ๐Ÿ™‚

Autumn Garden Delights…

It’s slowly changing to autumn and I thought I’d share some garden photos with you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s my lovely Buddleia that a friend gave to me in 2013 – I have 2 that she gave me and both have turned out really well, especially for the bees and butterflies. ๐Ÿ™‚

The flowers are amazing and have lasted so long this year. ๐Ÿ™‚ Continue reading
